Sildur's Vibrant Shaders

A highly optimized shader pack that has been around since 2012. Designed to run on any hardware and support every Minecraft version since 1.7.10. The v2.0 rewrite in June 2026 overhauled the rendering pipeline, water reflections, TAA, and fog [citation:1][citation:8].

What Sildur's Vibrant Shaders does

Sildur's Vibrant Shaders is one of the longest-running shader projects in the Minecraft community. The goal is straightforward: make the game look better without requiring high-end hardware. It runs on any GPU, including integrated graphics, and supports every Minecraft version since 1.7.10 [citation:1].

The v2.0 rewrite (June 2026) was the first major overhaul since 2018. It reworked the rendering pipeline for solid and translucent blocks, added reflections through stained glass, reworked water caustics to respond to shadows, and optimized godrays and bloom for better performance [citation:1][citation:8].

Performance presets

Vibrant Shaders includes multiple quality tiers. The Lite preset is designed for integrated graphics. The Extreme preset adds full reflections and volumetric effects for dedicated GPUs. A hotfix (v2.01) addressed NVIDIA driver bugs [citation:12].

Installation

  1. Install Iris or OptiFine. Both are supported [citation:8].
  2. Download the shader pack from CurseForge or Modrinth.
  3. Place the .zip in .minecraft/shaderpacks.
  4. In-game: Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs. Select Sildur's Vibrant Shaders.
Known issues: Fog density is higher in OptiFine than Iris. Some solid and translucent entities render twice in Iris, causing visual issues [citation:1]. These are documented by the creator, not hidden.

Frequently asked questions

Will it run on my laptop?
Try the Lite preset. Vibrant Shaders is explicitly designed to run on any hardware. If Lite is still too heavy, use MakeUp Ultra Fast or Chocapic13 Lite instead.
What changed in v2.0?
A full rewrite of the rendering pipeline. Added reflections through transparency, reworked water and fog, added PCSS shadow filtering, wetness effect after rain, per-biome fog, and Distant Horizons support for the Nether and End [citation:1].
Does it support Distant Horizons?
Yes. v2.0 added Distant Horizons reflections and support for the Nether and End. The creator notes that Voxy support is better than DH support in this pack [citation:1].
