Minecraft Shaders

Shader packs for Iris and OptiFine. Every pack lists its loader compatibility, minimum GPU class, and whether it works on integrated graphics with a reduced preset. Complementary Reimagined is the most-downloaded shader pack on Modrinth — if you are new to shaders, start there.

Iris vs OptiFine: which one to install

They are not interchangeable. A shader pack built for Iris may not render correctly in OptiFine, and vice versa.

If you already use Sodium, install Iris. If you want a one-click shader setup and do not care about Sodium, OptiFine still works — but you will lose the frame rate Sodium provides.

Complementary Reimagined

The most-downloaded shader pack on Modrinth. Keeps the vanilla art style but adds colored lighting, sharp shadows, and volumetric fog. Scales from Potato to Ultra — the Potato preset runs on integrated graphics.

BSL Shaders

Warm, cinematic lighting with strong atmospheric effects. Popular for screenshots and cinematic builds. Needs a dedicated GPU for the higher presets.

Photon Shader

One of the most popular stylized shaders on Modrinth. Distinctive color grading, soft shadows, and a painterly look. Well documented presets for different hardware tiers.

MakeUp Ultra Fast

A deliberately lightweight shader built for low-end systems and laptops. Adds colored lighting and basic shadows with minimal frame rate impact. Not cinematic — but it runs.

Sildur's Vibrant Shaders

One of the oldest continuously updated shader packs. Vibrant lighting, six quality presets, and broad hardware support. A safe pick for older GPUs.

SEUS PTGI

Path-traced global illumination. The most demanding shader pack on this list by a wide margin. Requires a modern dedicated GPU with ray tracing support for playable frame rates.

How to pick a shader for your hardware

The single biggest factor is your GPU, not your CPU. A gaming CPU with integrated graphics will still struggle with heavy shaders.

Integrated graphics (Intel Iris, AMD Radeon Graphics)

Use Complementary Reimagined on the Potato preset, MakeUp Ultra Fast, or Chocapic13 Lite. Expect 30–45 FPS at 1080p. Do not try BSL or Photon on integrated graphics — they will run, but not playably.

Mid-range dedicated GPU (GTX 1650, RX 6500 XT)

Complementary Reimagined on Medium or High, Photon, BSL on Medium. Expect 60+ FPS at 1080p. SEUS PTGI is still out of reach at playable frame rates.

High-end GPU (RTX 4070, RX 7800 XT and above)

Any shader on this page at 1440p or 4K. SEUS PTGI becomes playable. Complementary on Ultra is the best-looking option for most players.
