Minecraft Texture Packs

Resource packs for Java and Bedrock. Resolution is listed on every pack — but resolution alone does not tell you how heavy a pack is. Patrix 32x is significantly heavier than Faithful 32x because it uses hundreds of extra textures for tiling and randomization. Read the pack description before installing on a low-end system.

What resolution actually means

A 32x pack is not automatically "better" than a 16x pack. It depends on what the artist did with the extra pixels.

16x

Vanilla resolution. Packs at this level change the art style without increasing texture memory. Best for low-end laptops and integrated graphics. Stay True is 16x and still one of the best-looking vanilla-plus packs available [citation:4].

32x

Double vanilla resolution. Faithful 32x is the reference implementation: same art style, sharper edges, no extra mechanics. Patrix 32x is also 32x but uses OptiFine-format features for tiling and randomization, making it much heavier despite the same resolution [citation:3][citation:8].

64x and above

Patrix offers 64x, 128x, and 256x on Patreon. These require a dedicated GPU and a shader that supports LabPBR normal and specular mapping. Without shaders, Patrix textures can look flat or incorrect [citation:3].

Fresh Animations

Entity animation overhaul. Adds lifelike movement to mobs without changing the vanilla look. 100.1M downloads on CurseForge. Works via OptiFine or EMF/ETF on Fabric. Base pack is small (630 KB) but requires Entity Model Features to work on Fabric [citation:10].

Stay True

A visual remaster of the default textures. Subtle changes that add diversity without breaking the vanilla color scheme. 47.3M downloads. OptiFine required for connected textures and the pink birch leaves feature [citation:9].

Faithful 32x

The classic double-resolution pack. Every texture redrawn at 32x32 while preserving the original art style. 7.9M downloads on CurseForge. Available for Java and Bedrock. The June 2026 release added support for 26.2 [citation:7].

Realistic

Patrix 32x

Realistic textures color-matched to vanilla, designed for use with shaders. Uses OptiFine-format tiling and randomization instead of higher resolution. Significantly heavier than other 32x packs. 3.3M downloads on CurseForge [citation:3].

Classic Faithful 32x

Community-maintained fork of Faithful with a slower update cadence and a focus on the pre-2026 texture style. 155K downloads. Useful if you prefer the older look or need a specific version that the main Faithful pack no longer supports [citation:12].

Faithful 64x

Quadruple resolution, same art style as Faithful 32x. Heavier on VRAM. Recommended only for systems with a dedicated GPU and at least 4 GB of allocated RAM. Available on the Faithful website for supported versions.

Bare Bones

A deliberately flat, simplified texture pack. Removes visual noise without removing detail. Popular for PvP and for players on low-end hardware who still want a clean look. Not a vanilla-plus pack — it changes the style significantly.

Realistic

Patrix 128x

The high-resolution tier of Patrix. Requires a dedicated GPU, a shader with LabPBR support, and significant VRAM. The author explicitly warns against trying the 256x version unless you know what you are doing [citation:13].

Fresh Animations Add-ons

Optional extras for Fresh Animations. Adds emissive textures, custom models for spiders and golems, and additional animation details. Requires the base Fresh Animations pack [citation:5].

Jicklus

A vanilla-style pack with a slightly warmer palette and more organic shapes. Less widely downloaded than Faithful or Stay True, but well-regarded in the build community for its cohesive look.

Mizuno's 16 Craft

A hand-drawn vanilla-plus pack with a soft, illustrative style. Popular for cozy builds and screenshot-heavy worlds. 16x resolution keeps performance impact low.

Umsoea

Realistic PBR textures designed for shader use. Not a vanilla-plus pack — it changes the look entirely. Requires OptiFine or Iris with a compatible shader. Heavier than Patrix 32x at equivalent resolution.

Fabric vs OptiFine for texture packs

Some packs need OptiFine-specific features. On Fabric, those features come from separate mods.

Patrix explicitly lists Continuity, EMF, and ETF as requirements for Fabric users. Stay True needs OptiFine for connected textures unless you install Continuity on Fabric [citation:3][citation:9].
